This Friday I want to talk about falling in love with books by their opening lines. First Lines Friday is a weekly feature hosted by Wandering Words and focuses on judging a book by the first lines instead of the cover. Here are the rules:
- Pick a book off your shelf (it could be your current read or a book from your TBR list) and open to the first page.
- Copy the first few lines without giving anything else away just yet.
- Reveal the book at the end.
“They said the only folk in Deadshot after dark were the ones who were up to no good. I wasn’t up to no good. Then again, I wasn’t exactly up to no bad, neither.”
These are the first few lines I choose for this week’s First Lines Friday. Are you hooked, yet? Scroll down to find out which book this is from.
